Modelling of Wave Interaction with Submerged Breakwater Using MIKE 21 BW-PART I
Irregular waves transmission over submerged breakwater was analyzed in numerical model, MIKE 21 BW 1D. Results from this model were compared with laboratory measurements in physical model tests (Johnson, 2005), also with empirical models (D`Argenmond, 1996, Seabrook, 1998, Buccino, 2007). In model MIKE 21 BW 1D, wave breaking was calculated with default parameters of surface roller concept, and with modified breaker angles (initial-Fi, final-F0). Bottom friction (Svendsen & Jonsson, 1980) was included in calculations with bed roughness parameter calculated as kN = 2, 5 Dn50. Transmission coefficients obtained from numerical model have shown good agreement with measured data and empirical model data.
