Surfactants Influnce on the Paper Optical Characteristics Exposed to Ageing
In this work the influence of different surfactants and their mass fractions on the optical characteristics of paper was examined. Sodium lauryl ether sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine and fatty alcohol etoksylate like surface active agent were used. The research was carried out with filter paper made from virgin fibres and photocopy paper made from recycled fibres. The reflective spectra of treated papers were measured before and after accelerated ageing. The differences in the optical properties caused by ageing and by surface active agent have been discussed. The results have shown that surfactants reduce filter paper reflectance and increase photocopy paper reflectance. Increasing of surfactant mass fractions inhibits the influence of visible and near UV radiation on fibres.
