Design of the museum of contemporary art
Museum of contemporary art is one of the biggest construction sites currently in Zagreb. Area of the construction site is approximately 10000 m2 and the area of museum is around 1800 m2. Structure consists of cellar, basement and three-stories with flat roof. Each floor is 5 meters high. Structural system is space frame. It is one of the biggest prestressed structures in Zagreb. What is more importantly, this structure is prestressed on site, and after all structural elements were built. Due to possibility of concrete creep, external anchors are also made, so there is an open possibility to use external cables for prestressing. Prestressed beams are from 2 to 2.3 meters in height. One of the main characteristics of this structure are cantilever beams with span of 10 meters. This article will deal with structural calculations during design of museum, mostly with problems of prestressing beams that are already part of structure and their influence on other structural elements. It is concluded that for this
