Would you tell your partner that you have a sexually transmitted infection?
An estimated 13 000 000 sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are documented around the world per year. Given the scope to this public health challenge and the importance of prompt treatment and follow-up, in order to reduce future STI risk behavior, we sought to analyze the knowledge and barriers in general population. Our aim was to examine sexual behavior and factors that could have led to STI diagnosis. We tried to investigate the practice of safe/unsafe sex and willingness to inform sexual partners about being infected with STI. Further, we tried to analyze prejudices (stigma) about STI patients and participants opinion about promiscuity. Participants were given the specifically formulated questionnaire in order to reveal those information. Within these questions some distinct differences were found.
