The possible effect of published preelection poll results on the electoral behavior
The research of influence of published preelection poll results on the electoral behavior stems from the hypothesis that such an effect is possible under the following conditions: (1) that a person has seen or heard the poll results, (2) is able to reproduce them correctly, and (3) trusts their accuracy. Two public opinion polls were carried out on nationally representative samples. Observed differences in intended voting preferences were not linked to the indicators of possible preelection poll influence. Such results compare favorably to those of previous researches, stating that there are no convincing scientific proofs of the possible effect of published preelection poll results on the electoral behavior.
