Grain yield response to selection from F6 to F7 generation in pea
In the pea breeding process at the Agricultural Institute Osijek and Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek a new variability is being created by crossing pea lines. Created progenies are afterwards subjected to selection in segregating generations. Aim of this research is to determine the achieved response to selection from F6 to F7 generation after hybridization in seven different F6 populations in 2007 year. Plants of seven F6 populations were sampled in 2006 year and these were subjected to selection. Progenies of selected plants were measured for yield per unit area in plots along side with plots of non-selected progenies in 2007 year. Average grain yield of selected progenies in 2007 year was 2, 57 tha-1 while the average yield of progenies of original F6 population was 2, 18 tha-1. Estimation of average response to selection was 0, 39 tha-1 or 17, 89 %.
