Prikaz knjige: Radiographic Cephalometry: From Basics to 3-D Imaging
Radiographic Cephalometry: From Basics to 3-D Imaging is a book written not only for orthodontists, but also to introduce the field to those readers who have little or no experience in cephalometry. The book is a product of a joined work of 19 contributors, and 24 chapters are accompanied by numerous illustrations and a CD- ROM. The early chapters discuss the role of radiographic cephalometry in diagnosis and orthodontic treatment planning, review 20th century's cephalometry and introduce a reader into principles, procedures and equipment required for taking and processing cephalometric radiographs. Stepwise tracing technique and identification of landmarks are clearly described and additional transparent templates are provided on the accompanying CD-ROM. In the 5th chapter advantages and accuracy of digital versus conventional cephalometry are discussed. In subsequent chapters some classic cephalometric analyses are described in detail. These chapters are followed by discussions on the importance and various methods of soft tissue evaluation, and of superimposing serial radiographic images. Complexity of craniofacial growth analysis and the relationship between growth and cephalometry are also discussed. The readers are introduced to digital imaging in orthodontics and 3-D cephalometry, which are developed due to both integration of computer systems into dentistry and recent advances in imaging technology. The CD-ROM that accompanies the book contains several manual and digital templates and short video clips demonstrating 3-D technology. Transparent proportionate templates can be compared to a lateral cephalometric tracing of the patient in order to identify and demonstrate the extent of dental and skeletal disharmony. Comprehensive and contemporary, but easy to understand and learn from, this book is an excellent reading for all undergraduate and postgraduate dental students but also for general practitioners, dental anthropologists and specialists of dental and medical disciplines interested in cephalometry for academic reasons and for purposes of clinical application.
