The Role of Social Partners in Preparation of Professional Communities for EU
The aim of the paper is to address relevance and importance of the role of social partners and their contribution within European integration process. The paper gives an overview of the social dialogue structures and experiences in the European Union (EU) and evaluates the development of the social dialogue in the candidate countries (Croatia in particular) during the accession process. It analyses the contribution of social partners to preparing relevant professional communities for the effective functioning in the enlarged EU. In this context the relevance of civil dialogue is also focused on. Conclusions and recommendations are based on experiences of the new member countries’ and present candidates’ experiences and might serve to strengthen social dialogue in potential candidates, such as on Kosovo. The paper resulted from the research based on the secondary information sources - the EU documents focusing on the key issues related to the role of social partners in the European Union and in the process of EU accession, research papers and documents reflecting the experiences of new member states and candidate countries. The Annex containing some relevant additional material is attached to the paper.
