Staphylococcus Aureus, Escherichia Coli and Candida Albicans behaviour on Undyed and Dyed Wool
Wool is a natural protein fiber exhibiting the most similar composition of amino acids, as does the human skin, which proved the research of Staphylococcus aureus (HTCC 25923), Escherichia coli (ATCC 2522) and Candida albicans (40852/02) applied on undyed and dyed wool, to be well argumented. Following dyestuff were used: C.I. Reactive Blue 19 and C.I. Mordant Blue 4. Investigations were carried out the Disk Testing (incubation at 37 0C, during 24 hours), while behaviour of the bacteria and fungi were confirmed through microscopic analyses (grades ranging from 0 to 4). Obtained results confirmed undyed wool to provide good protective properties, while C.I. Mordant Blue 4 metal-complex dyestuff exhibited the least amount of rendered protection.
