Credit financing of Croatian Tourism

The aim of this paper is to show banks’ credit policy in tourism regarding subsidized and commercial credit programs. In this purpose, main tourism subsidized credit programs in cooperation with the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development are analyzed, programs’ participate commercial banks are explored and the amount of tourism subsidized credits to legal entities is researched. The purpose of those credits, payment dates, interest rates and required insurance instruments are analyzed, as well as the geographic distribution of subsidized credits which is extremely important for this way of Croatian continental tourism encourage. In addition to tourism subsidized credit programs, in the same way tourism commercial credits are analyzed with respect to the amount of commercial credits in Croatian tourism, the purpose of those credits, the share of credit placements to accommodation facilities, types of credits and their interest rates, payment dates, credit risks, insurance instruments and the geographic distribution of tourism commercial credits. The analysis presented in the paper is based on results of the institutional research and the questionnaire carried out on the sample of seven commercial banks and the study of scientific and professional, domestic and foreign literature in the field of credit policy.
