Implementation of the noise standards and their economic effect regarding the Croatian air traffic
The noise caused by aircraft was for first time considered as a serious problem at the ICAO Council on April 2, 1971, according to the regulations of Article 37 of the Chicago Convention of 1944. The standards and procedures in the form of recommendation have been officially Annex 16 ICAO - document which was last revised on November 11th,1993. The paper considers economic effects of noise standards on the carriers, as well on the cost of replacing the noisy aircraft with special regard to Republic of Croatia. The first step in implementing the international standards is the development of adequate national legislative regulations. From the technical and economic aspect, the analysis of the current condition of the Croatian fleet indicates that further development should include purchasing of a fleet of the new generatgion aircraft for the international traffic, and until the final solution of the problem, the existing fleet should be used for explanation in the nation about traffic.
