Strategic management of the tourist destination Istria

The authors see tourist destinations as market evaluated wholes, since their theories rest on scientific methods used in foreign and domestic literature. The scientific contribution of the authors is in the analysis and representation of strategic tourist destination management of Istria. The development of competitiveness and survival on the world tourist market is possible only in case of long-term and strategically planning of tourist destination development. In this paper, the authors are proving the hypothesis that a good strategic concept of development can run a destination successfully and form its tourist product in order to enable optimal satisfaction of the tourist's and local population's needs.
