A single blind comparison of mometasone furoate ointment 0, 1% and betamethasone dipropionate 0, 05% ointment was carried out in 60 patients with psoriasis vulgaris. Mometasone furoate ointment was applied once daily, and betamethasone ointment twice daily. Mometasone furoate produced good results in 85, 7%, and betamethasone in 85, 1% of evaluable patients (p>0, 05). Skin atrophy was more frequent in patients treated with betamethasone. According to the results obtained, we believe thast mometasone furoate is a valuable steroid in the treatment of psoriasis vulgaris.
