Distributed model of the arterial tree

Distributed mathematical model of the arterial tree is defined and applied to a subject with measured input aortic pressure and flow. The model is solved in frequency domain. An excellent agreement of the calculated and measured arterial input impedances is obtained. Calculated pressure time variations at different location along the arterial tree show well known physiological phenomena: delay of pressure rise start, pulse pressure amplification and pressure wave reflection. Velocity patterns at different location along the arterial tree are in good qualitative agreement with observations.
