Croatia and NATO - The public perception of NATO-membership
Croatia's present security position has been determined by the country's recent history, multi-regional presence, integrative efforts and perspectives. While recent history represents the impending factor in terms of national security taken in its broadest meaning, the integrative perspectives are a unique historic opportunity for the improving of such security and for the elimination of all the negative effects of the recent war. Croatia's entry in the PfP and the counrty's status as EU and NATO candidate has added an extra quality to the national security, as well as new contents to the instruments of security policy. NATO's experiences demonstrate that a wide-based cooperation is the best way to solve the problems that cut across country boundaries. Being aware of that, Croatia has made the NATO entry her strategic interest.
