Mathematical Model of Underwater Acoustic Signal Spectrum due to Far-Away Vessel
The vessel underwater acoustic noise in its proximity is a sum of two parts. One part is the stochastic Gaussian process due to vessel cavitation and is characterized with wideband spectrum. Another part consists of the finite number of harmonic components with narrowband line spectrum each. In the sea location, that is far-away from the vessel, the underwater acoustic signal due to vessel underwater acoustic noise has to propagate through the underwater acoustic channel. The space inhomogeneities of the deep-sea water make the underwater acoustic channel to be dispersive filter. The random changes of these inhomogeneities in time make the underwater acoustic channel to be stochastic dispersive filter. It distorts the original acoustic signal. The report deals with mathematical model of the power spectral density of the underwater acoustic signal due to noise of the far-away vessel.
