Development of potable water supply system of Slavonski Brod city

Slavonski Brod has plenty of underground waters but with inappropriate characteristics for potable water municipal supply. In the 1990s, the situation was worrying: (a) old water treatement plant (aeration/Cl2) could not achieve recommended characteristics of potable water and (b) potable water loss was up to 46%. The first part of the paper describes the new water treatement plant (ozonisation/Cl2) and attaining recommended characteristics of potable water. The second part elaborates developed practice for systematic network leakage reduction and results obtained - decrease of losses from 46% to 37% in two years.
