An implementation of BDI logic in Multi-agent systems
Since mid-1980s multiagent systems based on BDI logic has been developed. BDI architectures of MAS have their roots in the philosophical tradition of understanding practical reasoning. The practical reasoning involves two important process: deciding what goals we want to achieve (deliberating) and how we are going to achieve these goals (means-ends reasoning). A BDI agent is the agent with mental states (attitudes). It recognizes the primacy of beliefs, desires and intention in rational action. Procedural Reasoning System PRS was the first agent architecture to explicitly embody the BDI paradigm and proved to be most durable architecture developed to date. The PRS has been re-implemented several times since mid-1980s like in dMARS, JAM, JACK, Jadex etc.
