Television viewers: consumers of culture and co-creators of public sphere
The paper considers the television watching as an everyday activity in the national community (among the others)that consumes and at the same time produces cultural meanings. In the very act of television watching is implied the existence of two different forms of the organization of the social life: the one based on individuality and the public one. Consuming television is here seen as an active process and the consumer in this sense can be elevated to the status of citizen, for it represents the principal means whereby we participate in the polity.
