ECOLOGICAL FINISHING OF CATIONIZED COTTON FABRIC WITH EXTRACTS OF MARIGOLD, ST.-JOHN’ S- WART AND HIBISCUS PLANTS
The use of natural substances in textile finishing, especially in textile dyeing, has been growing because they are generally environmental friendly and have many advantages over synthetic substances - dyes with respect to the production and application. The problems in application of natural dyes are related to the low exhaustion and to the fastness of the dyed fabric. Therefore, in this paper cotton fabric was cationized for changing fabric surface charge to make possible finishing of cotton fabric with natural dyes – plant water extracts. The water extracts of marigold, St-John’ s-wart and hibiscus flowers were applied on cationized cotton fabric.
