Assessment of Detergents on the Croatian market

The powder detergents offered on the Croatian market have been tested for washing performance as well as with respect to their impact on pastel cotton dyed textiles. To this end, brand name universal detergents were used: a well known European and two national. The primary washing effects of the selected detergents at 60 and 90 °C were evaluated on the basis of pigment and protein soil removal, redeposition and bleaching effect on standard cotton fabrics. A change in the shade of the pastel dyed fabrics after washing was analyzed on the basis of differences in spectral characteristics. The obtained results indicate the performance selectivity of the tested detergents for the quality criteria and high level of competitiveness in case of the national brands.
