Injuries of Swimmers with Disabilities
Introduction: Success in sport activities gives to people with disabilities encouragement, hope and better communications with others, allowing them more complete quality of live. Patients and methods: Examination was done on championship of the Republic of Croatia in swimming for the persons with disabilities. Special questioner has been made ; research was conducted and involved 30 competitors, males and females, 10 without injuries and 20 with injuries. Results: Pain during the swimming training processes often includes the muscles of shoulders (46%), spinal cord (20%) and neck (20%), hip (7%) and knee (7%). Discussion: Injuries are the most often in the group with the smallest numbers of training processes and without training in fitness centers. The most often injuries are in the joint of shoulder because of disproportion in strengthening of two groups of shoulders' muscles (anterior and posterior). Conclusion: The expert who have to determine the protective measures for the sportsmen with disabilities have to know the most often injuries and the possible protective techniques.
