Water Quality and Trophic State of the Modrac Reservoir (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in 1997
The first post-war hydrobiological research of the Modrac Reservoir (situated in north-eastern Bosnia; water surface of 16.75 km2) was conducted in 1997. The aim of the research was to determine the water quality and the trophic state of the reservoir, analyzing the physico-chemical parameters of the water as well as the seasonal dynamics of phytoplankton and zooplankton communities. According to the obtained results, the water quality varied between IInd and IVth quality class, and the meso-eutrophic state was proved. The evident increase of eutrophication of the Modrac Reservoir needs to be monitored, since it is the potential source of drinking water for the Tuzla region.
