The Art of Memory in Mediterranean Croatia
This paper deals with the tension between constancy and variation in transmission od culture. First it will be done on theoretical premises leading to empirical selected examples of the «pasts» present today allowing us to rework our relations with the past idealised world. Most of the examples are based on the beliefs, everyday customs and ordinary scenes from women's lives that hide a milenary long history/memory from illiterate times and premodern (memory transmitted customs) orality. It will be shown how time and memory can influence even our everyday lives that we are not enough aware of.
