Collaboration of Croatian Cultural Heritage Institutions: Experiences from Museums

With the advent of fast-developing information and communication technology (ICT) and ever demanding users, different but cognate LAM (library- archives-museum) professions realized that the task of preserving and communicating world heritage surpasses their institutional boundaries and that their mission would be better accomplished if they collaborate with other institutions within and outside the cultural heritage sector. In 2008 the nature and scope of partnerships and attitudes to collaboration in Croatian LAM sector were analyzed in a large national study, as a part of doctoral research. In this paper, however, authors present only a segment of this study, limiting their focus on museum domain. Results of this research can help researchers and professionals better understand, plan and organize partnerships involving primarily museums but also other cultural heritage institutions such as galleries, archives and libraries.
