Factor Analysis of Body Posture Indicators for Frontal and Sagital Plane in Fencing

Sample of the examineers includes twenty seven fencers in junior and senior category where only therm was that they have been fencing for at least four years.Five parametres in frontal and four in sagital plane made a set of variables to determine the posture deviation degree. (Auxter, Pyfer and Huettig 1997., Palmer and Epler 1998., Paušić 2007.)Digital photographs of the examineers were entered into computer program in frontal and sagital plane witch made us see any postural deformites known as scoliotic, lordotic and kyphotic spinal deformites Measuring indicators of body posture was made by measuring instruments (camera, computer with software “ Posture Image Analyzer“ Paušić 2006.) Results of all parametres were been processed by computer program statistica 6 (StatSoft USA). Results of measured indicators of body posture were first processed by factor analysis of the first major components, afterwards number of significantly factors were defined with usage of P-B (Štalec i Momirović, 1971, according to Dizdar, 2006) criteries whose number of significantly factors (major components) are considered those whose sum of values aligned by size are lover than entirely amount of variance of manifest variables. By factor analisis of manifested results ( from the table ) and by usage of varimax normalized rotation in accordance with P-B criteria of selecting meaningful factors, we got two latent dimensions (factors).First one are four variables SEAR, SSHO, SPEL and SANC and they represent indicators of body posture in sagital plane and are responsible for valuation of sagital tipes of body posture such as kyphotic and lordotic spinal deformites.Second one are three variables FSHO, FSCA_1, FSCA_2 and they are indicators for body posture in frontal plane and they show us the exact signs of scoliotic spinal deformites.The findings confirm the hypothesis that participation in fencing sport has a significant impact on forming two tipes of postural deformites in both frontal and sagital plane.
