Numerical Calculation of Induction Motor Stator Phase Current and Torque-Speed Characteristics

An efficient algorithm for numerical calculation of induction motor steady state stator current and torque-speed characteristics using finite element method is described. Numerical calculation of magnetic field inside of the motor is based on the use of complex finite element method in 2D, with some corrections. These corrections are very important segment of calculation procedure, because some 3D effects (such as end-winding, skewed slots, rotor ring resistance, etc.) must be included in the 2D model. Results of numerical calculation are compared with experimental measurements on the real double-cage induction motor.
