Country Specific Report on Actors and Processes of Ethno-Mobilization, Violent Conflicts and Consequences: Croatia
Within the setting of the post-communist ransformation of political cultures, societies and economies in the countries that emerged with the dissolution of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), ethnic mobilization implied grouping around ethnic lines and the (re)mergence of ethnic cleavages, whose consequences could be seen in the segmentation of the society. Ethnic mobilization, in our understanding, emerged as a response to the threats and fears that had been intentionally fostered, or even manipulated, by politicians who simply employed preexisting historical narratives and myths.
