Rodoslovlje afroameričke autobiografije: od plantaže do Bijele kuće
The article suggests vital links among four texts which figure importantly in the outlined genealogy of black American life-writing, most notably autobiography and memoir. Drawing on the implied points of similarity and illustrating junctures of division and revision, as suggested by William Andrews and other scholars of the genre, the main argument attempts to chart certain narrative, ideological and thematic continuities in Frederick Douglass's, Booker T. Washington's, Malcolm X's and, finally, Barack Obama's autobiographies, respectively. Not only do they constitute a viable tradition in their own right, but also crucially contribute to the articulation of key ideological concerns in their respective times thus consolidating the status of the genre.
