Environmentally friendly lubricants for forging of aluminium parts

Lubricants and lubrication technology play very iportant role in hot forging technologies. Conventional hot aluminium forging lubricants applied to reduce friction during die movement, include one or more organic lead compounds, such as lead naphtheante and lead stearate. The use of lead in lubricating compositions has to be avoieded because of the health hazards caused by the relase of lead into the atmosphere. Now days it is necessary to find non-toxic and enviromentally friendly but effective lubricants for different types of forming operations. Research oriented toward anviromentally acceptable lubricant which has the similar performace characteristics as conventional lubricants, without containing lead is an objective of this study.
