Characterization of developmentally specific cactus proteins
In plants grown under stress conditions some of the protective systems against ROS are frequently disrupted, which leads to increased levels of these highly reactive molecules. Toxic levels of ROS can generate oxidative stress leading to damage of proteins, membrane lipids, nucleic acids and chlorophylls.Glycosylation strongly affects physicochemical features and biological functions of proteins. Relatively little is known about the effects of environmental and developmental conditions on the proteins produced by plants grown in vitro.
