INFLUENCE OF COMPOSITION AND PRODUCTION PROCEDURE ON PROPERTIES OF POLYESTER LAMINATES
Influence of production procedure and reinforcement placement on tensile strength and abrasive wear resistance of polyester laminates reinforced by various layers of glass fibers together with additives has been examined. After soaking of reinforcements with resign two procedures of removing air were applied: I - by hand with roller. II - injection pressing in vacuum (“ RTM procedure” , Resin Transfer Molding). Research of tensile strength and abrasive wear resistance has been carried out. It has been concluded that tensile strength of polyester laminates depends not only about “ composition” but about air bubbles as result of non homogeneity on border between reinforcement and the matrix as well. Strenght of RTM plates is generally higher than strength of plates produced by hand Abrasive wear resistance of laminates produced by RTM procedure is significantly higher compared to laminates produced by hand. Also, it has been concluded that mentioned higher wear resistance is result of adding calcite as additive into final layer of laminate.
