Survival equivalence of gamma-Weibull composite system
The reliability of a composite series (paralell) system is improved by decreasing the argument of the associated survival function in the case of general positive i.i.d. components having random life distribution. The gamma-Weibull distribution has been recently introduced by Leipnik and Pearce. The related density function, the probability distribution function and the characteristic function are expressed in terms of the confluent Fox-Wright generalization of the hypergeometric function, and its incomplete variant. The composite series (paralell) systems reliability is presented by numerical simulations, taking for the case study, system components having gamma-Weibull life distribution.
