Viscous-Inviscid Interaction Method as Background for Fast Flutter Analysis
A numerical method is demonstrated for solving steady and unsteady loads on 2-D airfoils. The method implements Euler equations for inviscid region and integral boundary layer equations for viscous region near airfoil. Viscous- inviscid interaction method is implemented through transpiration velocity. Euler solution is calculated by applying Van Leer flux-vector splitting method on body-fitted C-grid. The boundary layer model is calculated applying the Drela’ s model of integral boundary layer equations for laminar and turbulent flow. The transition from laminar to turbulent flow is predicted by the method. The viscous-inviscid interaction is made in direct mode. The viscous-inviscid results give comparable results with RANS and experimental results.
