Distributed object computing : concepts and trends
This paper presents the current state and future trends and issues in the realm of distributed object computing systems. After starting with an overview of general principles and concepts of distributed object computing systems and their relation to other programming paradigms, a set of relevant aspects for evaluation and comparsion of DOC systems is given. Subsequnetly, important features of three popular middleware environments-CORBA, DCOM and Java RMI-are explained, evaluated and compared with respect to those criteria. This comparative analysis has shown taht CORBA is currently the most mature DOC environment because of its conceptual benefits and completeness most DOC relevant aspects.
