Reidentification of Buenia specimens (Gobiidae) from Banyuls-sur-Mer (France, western Mediterranean)

Specimens from the collection of Zoologisches Museum, Hamburg identified as Buenia jeffreysii (Günther, 1867) were examined. They were collected at Banylus-sur-Mer (France, western Mediterranean) on 11 June 1979. The specimens were reidentified in the present work as Buenia affinis Iljin, 1930, based on morphological evidences. This is the first positive finding of this species in the north-western Mediterranean.
