Differences in general and specific health-related quality of life, anxiety and depression between women and men with IBD
Aim of study: There is now considerable evidence, using generic and disease-specific instruments, that IBD patients have impaired HRQOL compared with healthy controls in physical, social and emotional function. According to the literature, quality of life has been shown to be reduced in females compared with males with IBD in most studies. Furthermore, psychosocial factors are also playing an important role in IBD, especially emotional liability. The aim of this study was to investigate the sex differences in general and specific health-related quality of life, anxiety and depression in IBD patients.
