Electronic Low-Loss Phase Shifter With Near Octave Bandwidth

This paper describes design of the broadband electronic low-loss phase shifter. Proposed phase shifter is intended for use in microwave transmission line resonator [4]. Operating frequency is 1.75GHz with near octave bandwidth. Phase shifter is electronically tuned. It uses varactor diodes for phase shift adjustment. Because of the limited phase shift that can be obtained by varactor diode, an additional switched line segment was introduced. Complete phase shifter can provide phase shift of 360°. Since the application in resonator requires very low loss design (which corresponds to higher Q-factor of the resonator) this work is focused on reduction of the losses.
