Burgenland Croats: A Male Singing Group from Parndorf, 1936
The collection of twelve songs sung in 1936 in the Phonogrammarchiv by a male singing group from Parndorf (Pandrof), Burgenland, represents the oldest known sound documents of Burgenland Croats. It contains love songs and an example of a wedding song. The main issue apparent from the recordings refers to the position of multipart singing among Burgenland Croats: it is present in all the performances on the CD, while in song collections it turns up only very occasionally, being hardly mentioned at all in the literature.
