Green SCM: Overview of Concept and Practical Examples

Green supply chain management is a concept that is gaining popularity all over the world. Beside it is a way to demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, to be fully adopted by the organizations greening supply chains should contribute to better economic performances and competitiveness. In this paper we give a brief overview of green supply chain management concept and its linkage with industrial ecology and international standards. The basic segments of green supply chain management, , like green reverse logistics, green logistics, green warehousing, green sourcing etc., are explained. In the second part of the paper some examples of the greening in one manufacturing company are presented.
