Trends of Precipitation and River Discharges in Croatian Part of Danube River Basin
This paper deals with long term trends of precipitation and discharges and their statistical relationship in Croatian part of Dunav river basin. Researched area has continental type of the annual course of precipitation - precipitation maximum in warm half-year (April – September). The amount of precipitation decreases towards eastern part of researched area. Researched area has a well developed surface drainage network. Rivers are mainly characterised by combined pluvial-nival or nival-pluvial discharge regime, with maximums in Spring and Autumn. Precipitation amount and discharge values are analysed using 50-year data series (1958-2007) for selected ten meteorological and ten hydrological stations. Trends of precipitation and discharges are calculated in order to identify whether the changes in precipitation amount cause adequate changes in discharge regime. Furthermore, using the same method trends are calculated for cold (October - March) and warm (April - September) part of the year. In order to explain discharge decrease in both, warm and cold half-year, the correlation coefficients are calculated. Decrease of discharge values and corresponding precipitation amount can be, in most cases, statistically connected.
