Sixth-Century Mosaic Fragment from the Side Chapel of Santa Maria Formosa in Pula
A fragment of the apse mosaic of the sixth-century side chapel of the basilica Santa Maria Formosa in Pula is an interesting example of the mosaic decoration within the funerary architectural setting depicting Christ and Saint Peter bowing at his right. The iconographic interpretation of the mosaic has raised questions of its original theme within the frame of function, architectural context and theological approach. The text discusses the theme of «traditio legis» within the context of Early Christian theology and art.
