Determination of Shirting Fabrics Resistance to Seam Slippage

With the purpose to determine the resistance of shirting fabrics to seam slippage, the suitability of methods according to EN ISO 13936-1 and EN ISO 13936-2 was evaluated on finished 100% cotton shirting fabrics with different constructional characteristics, and after 15 and 25 washing cycles. In comparison to the EN ISO 13936-2 method, the method according to EN ISO 13936-1 is time consuming and more complex. The EN ISO 13936-2 method is fast and simple and, therefore, recommended for testing fine shirting. Under test force of 60 N, the seams of shirting fabrics opened in the range of 1.2 to 1.9 mm.
