Chemically controlled morphology of zeolite A crystals
[SiO2/Al2O3] ratio has a influence on morphological properties of zeolite A. The decrease of ratio (y ≤ 2) at relatively high alkalinity (e.g., x > 0.005) decreases the crystal growth rate in <110> and <111>directions, and thus development of {; ; 110}; ; and {; ; 111}; ; crystal faces. Further increase of alkalinity and simultaneous decrease of y causes surface nucleation and “rounding” of crystal edges and apexes.
