Microstructural changes as a result of hydrogen gradient in API pipeline
In this study accelerated corrosion tests and XRD analyses of ferrite-pearlitic API pipeline steels were performed in order to examine hydrogen embrittlement resistance. Under the influence of electrolytically established hydrogen gradient in steel, the significant microstructural parameters have been changed:higher dislocations density and remarkable increase in residual stresses were obtained. It was shown that steels having the microstructure with capability to better whitstand the hydrogen induced microstrains are more resistant to HE.
