Biological effects of two new amino-acid hydroxyurea derivatives on SW620 cell line in vitro
Colon cancer is the third most common cancer in men and the second most common cancer in women. Risk factors include age, a diet rich in fat and cholesterol, inflammatory bowel disease (especially ulcerative colitis), and genetic predisposition, including hereditary polyposis and nonpolyposis syndromes. If detected early, colon cancer is curable by surgery. Adjuvant chemotherapy can prolong survival in disease that has reached the lymph nodes. We studied the effects of two previously screened amino-acid hydroxyurea derivatives (compounds A and B) on the cell cycle and apoptosis of colon cancer cell line SW620, which is derived from metastatic site of the lymph node from the patient with colon cancer. We used the methods of cell cycle analysis, annexin test, western blotting and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis.
