Impact of Electromechanical Oscillations on the Synchronous Generator Stability
This paper proposes a method for determining the dynamic stability of a synchronous generator in real time. The eigenvalues of the synchronous generator and the nature of electromechanical oscillations in the surrounding area of the current operating point are determined based on the identification of the system matrix in real time. The proposed algorithm has been implemented in a digital excitation control system and tested on a synchronous generator connected to the power system. The proposed method is intended for implementation in excitation systems for synchronous generators in power plants so as to determine the dynamic stability of the synchronous generator in real time.
