The First Year of Croatian Meteor Network
The idea and a short history of Croatian Meteor Network (CMN) is described. Based on use of cheap surveillance cameras, standard PC-TV cards and used PCs, the Network alows schools, amateur societies and individuals to participate in photographic meteor patrol program. The network has a strong educational component and many cameras are located at or around teaching facilities. Data obtained by these cameras are collected and analysed by the scientific team of the network. Currently 14 cameras are operable, covering a large part of the croatian sky, data gathering is fully functional, including triangulation capabilities, and scientific part is in testing phase. The results of the first analysis done on the Geminid meteor shower are used to illustrate network capabilities. Radiant position of Gemind meteor shower for years 2006. and 2007. has been calculated. Obtained results for radiant drfit in RA and Dec (2000) for solar longitude interval 261.2-262.9 are presented. Graphical method proposed for radiant structure analysis shows good agreement with work of Kanuchova and Svoren (2006), based on data from IAU MDC photographic orbits database.
