Assessment of the educational service quality: a comparison between the Faculty of Economics in Osijek and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in Szeged
During the last few decades, at the time of technological development, globalization, and even greater development in communications and innovations, our society is witnessing different dynamic changes. Higher education is becoming more and more important in today's society, for it moves boundaries of knowledge, and makes our society transfer to a „knowledge-based society“. Today, higher education institutions are facing high demands, which require a higher degree of application and implementation of marketing conception, which results in a more competitive product/service. Today, quality is the key to success and in the future students will enrol in universities which have to offer a higher degree of educational service. This is the reason why quality has large impact on the viable development, as well as on the positioning of higher education institutions on the market. Business higher education has an increasing importance in today's European society. The reason lies in the increasing competition and the growing demand for knowledge in all areas of activity, and the dynamic changes on the market and its adjustment. The key role of knowledge is that it has become a crucial determinant of the ability to compete at the higher education market. This paper shows Croatia and Hungary's current market situation regarding higher education. It has analyzed and shown the assessment of the educational service quality applied by the Faculty of Economics in Osijek and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in Szeged, seen through the eyes of the students. A very important fact is that Hungary is a member of the European Union, while Croatia is still in the process of becoming one. Contrary to that, it can be concluded that both the Faculty of Economics in Osijek and the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in Szeged have good predispositions to compete in higher education market with their quality. In that sense, knowledge is a very important factor, and a part of the function of the viable development of each country. The results of this research are presented in this paper.
