Do we take sufficient care of the quality of life in IBD patients in remission?
Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) are chronic, recurrent diseases which exert major effects on patients' well being and quality of life (QoL). Although the treatment must be focused on healing of symptoms and prevention of complications, improvement and preservation of general and disease specific QoL is also important. The disease specific QoL worsens with more severe disease. We aimed to compare components of general and specific health related QoL in patients with inflammatory bowel disease in remission and in active phase of disease.
